Kasteel Zypendaal
Kasteel Zypendaal staat op landgoed Zijpendaal aan de Zijpendaalseweg. Het huidige kasteel Zypendaal werd in de 18e eeuw gebouwd en werd later door diverse verbouwingen sterk gewijzigd. Hoewel het als kasteel wordt aangeduid is het eigenlijk geen kasteel, omdat het ver na de Middeleeuwen werd gebouwd en het huis geen verdedigende functie heeft gehad. Zypendaal is omringd door een schitterend park, aangelegd door de Duitse architect C.E.A. Petzold.
Geschiedenis
Huis Zypendaal werd in 1642 voor het eerst vermeld als ‘spy’, hetgeen betekent dat het huis in de nabijheid van water staat. In 1743 kwam het landgoed Zypendaal in bezit van de toenmalige stadssecretaris van Arnhem, Mr.Hendrik Willem Brantsen. Het tegenwoordige huis werd omstreeks 1762 door Brantsen ten zuiden van het oude huis gebouwd. Zijn familie bewoonde het huis tot 1926. In de 19de eeuw onderging het huis verschillende herstellingen en verbouwingen. De karakteristieke toren aan de achterkant van het huis werd in 1883 door architect Dr.P.J.H. Cuypers toegevoegd. Tijdens deze restauratie werd huis Zypendaal tevens voorzien van twee dakvensters, een vestibule en een balkon.
Zypendaal Castle
The current Zypendaal Castle was built in the 18th century and was later amended by several strong alterations.
Although the castle is referred to as it’s actually not far Castle, because it was built after the middle ages and the House has had no defensive function.
Zypendaal is surrounded by a beautiful park, laid out by the German architect c.e.a. Petzold.

Prachtig, wat hebben we toch een prachtige landgoederen in ons landje. Dat de kasteelheren rijk werden over de rug van het gepeupel, en we nu die tenten volpompen met subsidie’s, ach niet aan denken. Laten we er maar van genieten.

hahaha, We hadden het plan om het 2 weken terug te gaan bekijken.
Is niet door gegaan, maar zo te zien moet hij nog maar even op het verlanglijstje blijven staan.

Wonderful series of photos, the place is beautiful the house, trees and reflection on the water is very nice.
That machine is the giant blue lifting gantry that has dominated the Newmarket skyline since the beginning of this year, and which will be moved by its own power generator on large metal sliding beams, from on top of the new southbound structure it has just finished building.
My engineer husband tries to explain to me about the blue machine. he says is a girdle, and it lifts up things to make motorways like bridges. Sorry I can’t explain further.

Ah .. now that first image, of the house surrouinded by the moat, is very much what I would expect to see in NL somehow. There is something about the architecture. The other photos are such excellent images of the landscape in summer. So very green and fertile when I compare it to so much of the Australian landscape. Thank you for showing this to me today.

Prachtige foto’s, Bram! Wij hebben nog best veel moois in ons land! Ik krijg over een week Denen op bezoek die graag mooie tuinen willen zien in de buurt van Rotterdam of Den Haag. Ik heb al bij Google gekeken, maar niets gevonden. Weet je of er iets dergelijks vlak bij Rotterdam of Krimpenerwaard is?
